My Ragdoll Cat Adventures Part Two
Monday 19th Sep 2022 Blog Post 46: Long Leads and I Hate Bugs
Tried out very the long leads on Sunday 4th Sep (for Tom and Jack) – worked better but still need to watch them so they don’t get tangled up. Leo and Jack were jumping up at the fence to get the wasps. The pigeons seem to be getting aggressive lately and flying over really low. It was driving the boys nuts. They wanted to chase them!
They are still trying to dig under the fence, crafty but I am on to them. I don’t let them out of my sight while they are in the garden. Jack actually ate a wasp this time! I couldn’t believe it. He seemed fine though and did not appear to have been stung in the mouth.
There were pigeons staring again the next day. The boys were all sat on the grass staring up at the roof, watching them raptly. I was getting a bit bored.
They are taking more interest in the catio every walk time now. They all go in there for a look. I still don’t want to leave them in it so I always have the door open so they can go in and out and still on their leads.
The long leads seem to be working although Jack is not happy about it. He hates wearing his harness and the lead, but he knows that he has no choice and at least he has lots of length now to comfortably walk to the end of the garden.
I have to give them a good brush when they come in as they often have bugs in their fur or the odd slug. Leo had a daddy long legs hanging from his mouth which I had to pull off and dispose of. When the grass is wet they get really dirty paws but they understand when I tell them to clean them. I just say to them ‘Clean your paws,’ and they start licking them. They can’t always get all the muck off so I get the baby wipes out.
They love feathers. I have started looking for feathers now when I am out, and if I see any I will pick them up and take them home for them to play with.
We had a wasp in the house on Thurs, and the boys were very excited. I was worried they would get stung or I would, so I sprayed it with some mosquito repellant, and it dropped like a stone onto the laptop. I shouted at the boys not to touch it and managed to remove it and put it in the bin. Phew.
