My Ragdoll Cat Adventures Part Three
01 July 2024 Blog 22 Cat Show
Me and boyfriend went to a local cat show yesterday. It was amazing and so much fun. So many beautiful cats (Ragdolls, Maine Coons, British Shorthair, Abyissian, Bengal) and some funny looking ones as well i.e. Sphynx and Scottish folds. The Maine Coons were awesome. They were massive! I thought my boys were big but these cats are enormous. Really soft and cuddly though, big gentle giants. We watched some of the show categories being judged. We walked around looked at all the different cats in their big carrier things which were like mini cat houses with their litter tray, food, water, beds and toys. We chatted with some of the participants and there was a lovely old couple who had a beautiful stunning all white Maine Coon called Tudor. He won the best of his breed. The couple were so sweet and the old chap got emotional talking about his previous wife who he was married to for 68 years and sadly passed away. He said the cat breeding and showing now takes up a lot of his time and he and his new wife clearly loved it. The other good thing about the day was asking for advice on cat grooming. We met a lady who was a cat groomer and she gave us a demonstration on her Ragdoll (so cute) with these two brushes, one with soft bristles and a comb with wide teeth at one end and narrower teeth at the other. Boyfriend was keen on getting as much info for me as possible so was asking lots of questions. I ended up buying the comb and the brushes she was selling. It was a lot of money, but definitely worth it if I can get rid of the matts on Tom and Jack’s coats. I also had to get some toys so I bought 4 catnip toys that had fake fur and one had a squeaker and one a rattle inside etc. I also got a wand toy with ribbons and feathers on . Also, boyfriend got me a little toy cat as a keepsake. All in all a very fun day (albeit a little expensive but worth it.) The boys were very excited when I gave them the toys when I got home. They were playing with them last night. I found bits of fur on the floor and they have chewed the end of the squeaker toy already. Not Ragdoll proof clearly. I have tried out the new brushes on them all and Jack and Tom seemed to enjoy it. I think it is a lot softer on the fur and more comfortable for them. I managed to cut off this huge matt that Jack had on his side. Unfortunately now he has a bald spot there but it will grow back. He still has loads of bad matts but I will keep working on them with the new brushes!
