My Ragdoll Cat Adventures Part Three
19th Aug Blog Post 234 Watching Squirrels
The boys have had a good look at the squirrels up close the last two mornings. Sammy and Samantha are getting more and more bold. Just waving and tapping on the fence does not seem to scare them off anymore. When I was watching yesterday, I saw the squirrel making his way to my garden. I grabbed all the boys one at a time and put them in the catio. I then went and sat in there with them, with the door shut. We waited and about 5 minutes later, Sammy appeared and went to the feeder. The boys were transfixed! Leo kept jumping up and down and the rest were making cat chatter noises and doing meerkat impressions! Eventually Sammy heard them and ran off. This morning I was wondering if they would be back again. After about half an hour outside, I could see a bushy tail waggling about on the fence. It was not long before he got closer and closer to my fence. Thankfully Leo was in the catio with Jack so did not notice. Charlie and Tom were on the alert. I grabbed them and put them in the catio with the others. I thought it would be fun to sit outside the catio this time and wait patiently to get a good look at Sammy while the boys watched from the catio. First one of the pigeons came down and sat on the feeder looking around. Jack and Charlie were chattering away to it. Sure enough then Sammy came along. He looked around nervously and spotted me watching but it did not stop him. He went to the feeder and grabbed a peanut. Then Leo jumped up on the shelf to have a look and that noise scared Sammy off and he ran! After that I got them all in one at a time. They were not happy as they wanted to stay outside and chase the pigeons and squirrels but I said no. They will have to just watch them from the door instead.
