My Ragdoll Cat Adventures Part Three

26th Aug Blog Post 236 Tom and the Pigeons

Have been struggling a bit with naughty Tom. He often won’t come in when it is time to finish our morning walk. He likes to sit in the catio and watch the pigeons and the squirrels if they make an appearance. When I go in to fetch him after I have taken the other boys in, he jumps up onto the box and then onto the upper shelf where I can’t reach him! Jack does this sometimes as well. So I have given up trying to get him down so I go and sit in the catio with him and wait for the pigeons and/or the squirrel to visit. Charlie’s new habit is he likes to go up to the spare bedroom window and sits watching us and the garden. Leo and Jack sit by the patio door watching us in the catio and make me feel guilty as they are desperate to be with me and they are scratching at the door and meowing. The other day, Tom made me laugh when we were in the catio. The pigeons flew down and sat on the garage roof (the catio is next to the garage) so Tom could hear them cooing but could not see them. Then one of them landed on the catio roof! Tom was very excited. He was on the top shelf and so close to the pigeon but could not get at of course. He was scratching madly in the corner of the roof trying to get it. I think the pigeon was toying with him as it kept walking about making little tapping noises on the plastic.  Eventually the pigeon got bored and then flew down to the ground to eat the seeds and nuts that had fallen out off the feeder. Tom then jumped onto the bottom shelf so he could watch them. I think they got wind of him as they all flew after a while. I told Tom we have to go in now as the other boys want him back in. I eventually managed to grab him before he jumped up onto the shelf again. He is a little monkey sometimes!
