My Ragdoll Cat Adventures Part Three

30 September Blog Post 245 Charlie Gets It In the Eye

Poor Charlie had a sore eye at the weekend. On Saturday I noticed his eye was really red and sore. He was squinting a bit. I thought maybe it was an infection like Tom had last year. I still had some eye drops left over from that time (were still in date) so I put some in Charlie’s eye, after a struggle! I know I shouldn’t really use medicines that were prescribed for one of my other cats, but I thought it was the same sort of problem. His eye was still red and sore on Sunday but he was alright in himself and playing and eating okay. He was annoying the other boys as usual as well. Then when I had another look at it I noticed a little scratch on his eyelid. I suspect he sustained an injury when he was fighting with the others, probably from Jack. Charlie loves to antagonise Jack the most and he ‘fights dirty’ and it can get a bit nasty. I try to break them up when they squabble and I tell Charlie off. It does not make any difference though! His eye was looking better Monday so I did not give anymore eye drops much to Charlie’s relief. The little scratch is healing now. I just wish they would all get along but I know they will always have fights sometimes but I just hope they don’t get too violent! Even though they fight they have moments where they show affection to each other and I have seen Jack licking charlie and they all cuddle up on the sofa sometimes. I guess the play fighting sometimes can get out of hand just like children!
