My Ragdoll Cat Adventures Part Three

18 Nov 2024 Blog Post 258 Beautiful Bengal

Apologies I did not get a chance to post Friday. I have seen that killer cat again. On Friday morning, I took the boys in from our walk at 7am, however, Tom was on top of the box in the catio and refused to budge so I left him there with the door shut of course. At about 7.15am I was looking out the patio doors checking on Tom and I was watching the stupid pigeons in amusement as they were wandering across my lawn looking for food as usual (which is not there now!) and this Bengal cat suddenly appeared from the corner of the garden and chased the pigeons and the magpies off. This time instead of scaring the cat off, I thought I would watch it. Leo, Charlie and Jack were all watching with fascination from the patio door. Charlie was getting very stressed and was growling. The Bengal sat there for a bit watching us watching it. Then it wandered over the catio and was on its tippy toes looking in at Tom. Tom did not move. I thought maybe Tom would go over to it and growl at it through the mesh but nope. He just sat there. The Bengal was just curious I think, it did not show any aggression towards Tom. Then when there were no more birds for it to chase it jumped over the gate and was off. Charlie was watching and when it jumped over the gate, Charlie ran to the back door as if he would chase after it! Bless. I still don’t understand how someone could let a beautiful expensive breed of cat like that out to roam free. We live near a main road and it is at risk of getting killed. I do think it is so irresponsible. I am glad I keep more boys safe. It has been 7 days now and the pigeons are still visiting in the morning and afternoon and wandering about the lawn. It seems to be the same gang that I started off with (who I named) and they live under my solar panels. I would like to get rid of them completely one day as the mess on my roof and in my gutters is awful. I think I will get the pest control guys to put mesh around the solar panels like boyfriend had done next door (at great expense!) They just don’t catch on very quickly that’s for sure. I think it will take a few weeks before they leave completely. But if that Bengal keeps hunting in my garden we are going to find more dead or dying pigeons!
