Will Your Ragdoll Be Cuddly?
Ragdoll cats are typically loving, friendly, playful and crave human company. This is true of Jack and Tom. However, that is not to say that all Ragdoll cats are like this and they do all have their own personalities so you never quite know what you are going to get, just a rough idea. The differences between Tom and Jack are quite startling sometimes.
Jack is very energetic, always wants to play, very curious and the first one to climb into a box or a cupboard. He is not particularly cuddly though. He likes being stroked and rubs against your legs and likes to lie next to you on the bed. He sometimes lies on top of me when I am on the sofa. He doesn’t like being picked up, held or cuddled though. It’s on his terms. He will come to you if he wants fussed.
Tom is the opposite in nearly every way. He is laid-back verging on lazy. Not bothered about running around (although he does have his mad ten minutes of ‘zoomies’ sometimes.) He is quite happy to sit back and watch the proceedings and not take part. He is very cuddly though! He loves fuss, strokes, tickles and he likes being picked up. He comes up to me and meows softly and I know he is asking for a cuddle so I pick him up and hold him in my lap like a baby and rock him to sleep. Jack would not let me do that to him.
So when you get your Ragdoll(s) you’ll just have to see what type of personality they have and get to know them just like a human. They will tell you what they want. I am sure they will bring you lots of love and joy as much as my boys have for me.
