My Ragdoll Cat Adventures Part Three

22th April 2024 Blog Post 203 Sunday Jobs

Spent Sunday morning cooking and trying to keep the boys away from the food and the hot pans! I usually cook with two pans as I batch cook for my week’s meals so make about 6 portions. This does mean it is a bit risky having to manage the two pans on the flames (I have a gas hob) with cats close by. Charlie is the worst. He constantly meows at me when I am cooking and wanders around my feet and leans on the oven door trying to peer up at the stove. It stresses me out as I am always worried he will try and jump up onto the hob! Jack was on the island worktop and was walking along gingerly by the sink trying to get to my food that was in bowls ready to go into the pan! I had to carefully pick him up and put him on the floor. Charlie would not give up though. I kept telling him ‘No!’ over and over again and nudging him along with my foot to keep him away from the cooker. Thankfully I managed to cook safely and successfully and get my meals all portioned up in tubs ready to go in the freezer later. After I had done the washing up, I fed Charlie and the others. They settled down after that and Charlie stopped following me everywhere now I was out of the kitchen.

I had a nice afternoon on Sunday that was more relaxing. Went for a nature walk with boyfriend. Later on we did some tidying/organising jobs in the house to try and get rid of some rubbish and make a bit more space for me (the boys and their toys take up a lot of the space!) The boys joined in. We were trying to move a storage box from the hallway into the music room to make the hallway clutter-free. As soon as we got the lid off and took the stuff out, Leo was straight in there. I put the lid on so he was shut in as thought that would be funny! Don’t worry, it wasn’t for long and then I let him out. Charlie and Jack took it in turns to jump in there as well. We ended up carrying the box between us with Charlie still sat in it to its new home in the music room next to the piano. Charlie was not budging from the box. So I put some things in the box while he was still in it (being careful not to squash him of course.) Eventually when me and boyfriend moved to the kitchen to sort some stuff, Charlie jumped out the box and followed with the other boys to see what we were doing. They really are the most curious animals I have ever known!
