My Ragdoll Cat Adventures Part Three
26th April Blog Post 204 Vet for Leo and Charlie
It was the vet on Monday for Leo and Charlie. Thankfully trusty boyfriend was on hand to help me and we took them in the big cat crate in his car. He can lift the crate better than me! They are surprisingly heavy! The appointment was at 13.15 so I got the crate out about 12.40 and put it in the kitchen. Leo was the first to jump in; it was almost like he knew he was going somewhere and seemed to be excited! (He was not so excited when we got them in the car!) Charlie took a bit of catching but he was on the sofa so managed to scoop him up and shove him the crate and zip it up before they could escape. Boyfriend turned up and congratulated me on the successful capture! They both cried the whole way there, very loudly! They do not like the motion of the car. I had put some toys in there for them and sprayed some Feliway on the crate but did not do much! We got them into the surgery and then waited for a while. There was another cat there in a carrier and as that cat wowed loudly, Charlie meowed back to it, like they were commiserating with each other about their vet visit. We got a nice lady vet. Unfortunately there had been a mix up about the appointment as I had booked it online and I did not realise but it had been booked on their system for Charlie only, although I thought it was for both when I got the email confirmation.. The vet was a bit stressed at first and said she could only see one of them. I was a bit annoyed as it was not my fault the appointment system was inaccurate but thankfully she caved and agreed to do them both. We got Charlie out first and she put him on the scales. 6.8kg! He had lost a kilo since last year. She seemed a bit worried about it which made me worried but I said he has been eating fine (maybe not as much as before and Leo eats everybody’s food anyway.) She examined him and he was okay and then she gave him his jab. Took it like a champ. Then we put him back and I got Leo out after a struggle as he went all stiff so it was a nightmare trying to pick him up! Eventually got him on the table and the vet weighed him. He has gained weight not surprisingly and is now 8.4kg! As big as Jack now. Poor charlie was trying to climb out of the crate to be with Leo so boyfriend was trying to hold him in! I think maybe Leo is eating too much! She examined him and then gave him his jab and he was okay. We got him back in the crate and he snuggled up to Charlie. We finished and boyfriend took them to the car while I paid (£120!!) Then we drove them home and they cried all the way back but not as loudly. We got them in the house and let them out and they were very pleased to be back. I don’t think Tom and Jack were pleased to see them! I think they thought that Leo and Charlie were gone for good! The rest of the afternoon Leo cried and cried and I had to keep cuddling him and trying to soothe him. Big baby. Charlie was fine and back to terrorising everyone. Me and boyfriend are considering putting Leo on a diet but I doubt we have the energy to enforce that !
