My Ragdoll Cat Adventures Part Three

3rd May Blog 206 Skating Practice

I have taken up a new hobby lately, roller skating! Not sure whyI decided to do this but in a mad moment I bought some roller skates online and decided to try it out (in the house.) I have not skated since I was very young and I think I gave it up quickly then when I fell over. However, as an adult and I am older and wiser I thought why not give it a go and try and do it properly this time with expert tuition from YouTube videos. I also bought all the pads and a helmet so I am well protected. I have hard floors in my lounge, kitchen, dining room and hallway so I figured I could practise there and then eventually when I am more confident I will go in the garage and then outside to practise. I have been skating in the house for three weeks now practising about half an hour a day. I am slowly getting more confident. I have only fallen over once so far! The boys have been bewildered by my new hobby. They looked quite scared first of all and were sniffing my skates and all the accessories. Then when I first put them on and was wobbling about a bit they got out of the way and watched from a safe distance. However, now I am getting more confident and practising daily, they have got more interested again (and perhaps getting less scared) and they often follow me about the house now while I am skating. They always want to be with me whatever I am doing. It does get a bit dangerous though if they get too close and I keep telling them to give me a wide berth but they don’t listen. I have been out to the garage a couple of times with boyfriend holding my hand. That was harder than I thought as the ground in the garage is quite rough and you need to push more with the wheels to get going and there is less to hold onto! Hence boyfriends hand. I am going to keep going though and I want to be able to skate in a quiet car park or something eventually. Just hope I don’t fall over or fall on the boys!
