My Ragdoll Cat Adventures Part Three

10th June May Blog 216 Catio Explorations

Leo has not tried to jump the fence again so far. He is actually very good in the garden and wears his harness and lead without a fight. He has crept up to that corner of the garden fence a few times though and looks up at it. I remind him every time that he is not allowed! They have all been having fun in the catio. Jack and Tom have been jumping up to the top shelf. Charlie still hasn’t figured it out yet. Leo sits there with his lead trailing along the ground behind him. I do take it off when he is in the catio but I am sure he is hoping I will forget to put it back on when he walks out in the garden again. On Friday I couldn’t get Tom to come in from the top level of the catio. The others had got bored and gone in so I was calling and calling for Tom to come in too. I went and had a look and he was nonchalantly sitting on the top shelf looking at me. I was said it was time to go in but he wouldn’t budge. So I went back inside and assumed he would follow eventually. About 20 minutes later he still wasn’t coming in. The other boys were all sat at the patio door waiting for him! I went back out and told him to come in. He meowed at me and walked up and down the shelf looking down. It was as if he had forgotten how to get down! So I stood on a garden chair and reached up to him but I couldn’t get hold of him properly at that height to carry him down (and he is so heavy). He was getting scared so he jumped out my arms and walked back along the shelf. I decided I would just shut the door and leave him for a bit and hope he could remember how to get down! I went back in and after another 20 minutes and with Leo, Jack and Charlie looking anxiously from the patio door, Tom finally jumped onto the box and then onto the lower shelf and onto the ground. I was relieved. I went out and fetched him in without a fight. The others were pleased to have him back. What a numpty.
