My Ragdoll Cat Adventures Part Three

24th June Blog 219 Squirrels

Maybe the squirrel feeders were not such a good idea! I now have 3 squirrels that come into the garden to feed from the squirrel feeders! I did not anticipate having that many! It attracted loads of big birds as well such as magpies, crows, jackdaws, blackbirds, pigeons etc. I love watching them from the patio doors and the boys do as well, although they get bored of them after a while. However, the wildlife is now starting to seriously impact on our morning walks in the garden. Twice this week I have had to grab Leo before he could get to the top of the fence when he saw a squirrel and went chasing after it. Thankfully his lead and harness did the job and I managed to pull him off the fence before he could get to the top. Its frustrating as I know he is only acting instinctively so it is not his fault. I don’t know why the squirrels and the pigeons have to start so early looking for food. Why can’t they just wait for an hour for us to have some quiet time in the fresh air? This morning we managed an hour of calm before Leo saw the squirrel and tried to climb up the fence! After that scare I had had enough and I took them in. About 5 minutes later I looked out the patio door and the pigeons, jackdaws and the (one) squirrel were all eating the peanuts! I do enjoy watching them and I like having the animals in my garden. Just wish they would leave us alone at 5.30AM so the boys and I can have some peace while we enjoy the fresh air!
