My Ragdoll Cat Adventures Part Three

28 Oct 2024 Blog Post 253 Birthday Weekend

Had a lovely birthday (although ended up with an injury on my birthday.) Saturday night, me and boyfriend had a little party for me with lots of yummy junk food and a birthday cake! I decorated the dining room and put up loads of balloons and posters and a happy birthday banner. The boys were watching me in fascination as I was doing all that. The balloons were funny as I had a balloon pump to blow them up and I have not used one before so it took a few attempts to get the hang of it. A few of them popped as I pumped too hard and that scared the boys. They are not a big fan of balloons, if they are too close to one they run away, except Leo who likes to bat them about. I got a happy birthday balloon from my cousin (who we saw on Friday) and Charlie chewed through the string so the balloon is on the ceiling now. I cleared the table to lay it for our party and the boys were all over it as usual. Then when I had laid it they were walking up and down knocking over cups etc. On the actual birthday evening they were relatively well behaved and we managed to eat in peace. Next day we had my dad and stepmum over. I spent the early morning continuing our quest to get all the hair off the carpet upstairs. With the new dehairing brush I brushed the stairs, the landing and a couple of the bedrooms and managed to get a lot of it up. It looked a lot better. The boys were meandering around while I was busy brushing. I had a plastic bag with the hair I got up in it and they kept going in the bag and looking to see what it was. When dad and stepmum got there the boys disappeared! After a while stepmum managed to coax Charlie down. She had got them two new scratching boards with catnip. Charlie was straight in there scratching on them then Leo came down to have a look surprisingly as he is really shy. Then eventually Tom and Jack came down. Tom was  very happy with the catnip rubbing himself all over it. Again, they were well behaved at lunch and we ate in peace. Tom and Jack did jump on the table later when dad was sitting there having his cup of tea but he did not mind as least the food was finished with. They happily played with the wrapping paper and the present bag after I had opened my presents. Stepmum gave them lots of fuss and the boys were warming up to her. Bribing them with presents (or food) helps. It was a good weekend and I think the boys enjoyed it as much as me! P.S the injury was that I cut my index finger quite badly on a kitchen knife while doing the washing up. Thankfully it did not need stitches but got steri strips and a dressing on it in the urgent care treatment centre this morning. It is very sore but hopefully should heal soon. I am very clumsy.
