2nd Dec 2024 Blog Post 261 Poor Charlie Cannot Jump High Enough
On one of our freezing cold walks in the garden last week, Charlie was in the catio and he was looking up at the top shelf. He doesn’t normally bother looking at it as he is not keen on jumping and climbing up high. However today he was clearly obsessing about how to get up to the top shelf. He went on the lower shelf and tried to jump on the box (the other boys use this to give them the height to then jump on the top shelf) but he misjudged it and was hanging on by his paws and then slid off. I felt sorry for him. I went into the catio and he was sitting there meowing at me and looking up to the higher shelf and he was clearly upset he couldn’t get up there. I explained to him about jumping onto the box to get to the top but I know Charlie is a bit clumsy when he jumps so I could understand his frustration. To make him feel worse and jealous, Leo comes into the catio and promptly jumps on the box and onto the top shelf with ease. Charlie was really cross.
On Sunday morning, Jack and Tom went to the top shelf and were both sitting there looking down at Charlie as if to say ‘Ha ha, you can’t jump up here’ Charlie was upset again and meowing at me that he wanted to go up too! I explained about the box again but he still did not want to try in case he slipped off it
Poor Charlie. I am hoping eventually Charlie will perfect his jumping skills and get to the top!
