My Ragdoll Cat Adventures Part Three
6th Dec blog post 262 Tommy’s Tantrum
Tom is the most laidback and placid of my boys. Nothing seems to bother him (almost.) The other day he had a proper toddler’s tantrum. It was about 4pm and I was getting on with some work on my laptop as usual. Jack was curled up next to me on the chair and Leo and Charlie were upstairs sleeping. Usually at this time Tom is also curled up on a chair and sleeping. This particular day for some reason he decided he wanted to go out. He spent about half an hour coming up to me and meowing at me, again and again. He clawed at my chair and my leg. I thought he just wanted fuss so I got down on the floor with him and cuddled him and tickled his tummy. Then I went back to my work. The fuss was not what Tom wanted. He started clawing at the patio door and yowling again. I told him ‘No, you can’t go outside now, only in the mornings like we usually do.’ He ignored me and carried on clawing at the door. Then I started getting mad. I shouted at him ‘No!’ He stopped for a second (and poor Jack woke up and was looking at me fearfully as he knew mummy was angry.) My angry shout did not stop him and he continued his yowling and clawing. I tried to ignore him but it was so irritating. I shouted at him a few more times and eventually he did stop and went off into the hallway in a huff, and was running around like a looney and playing with one of my hair bands. He did settle down after that and went to sleep on his chair again. I still have no idea why he wanted to go out at that time, but I think he was just bored and trying his luck! They are just like naughty disobedient children!
