My Ragdoll Cat Adventures Part Two

4th Sep Blog Post 144 Wasps and Melt-downs

I told him not to and I warned him again and again. Charlie managed to get stung again (albeit briefly and not too badly) by a wasp in the garden. There have been a few wasps about normally on the fences where they chew the wood. The cats have been very curious and will sit there and stare at them. Most of the time the wasps stay up high out of reach but yesterday one wasp flew onto the ground. Charlie was straight there and before I could say ‘No!’ he put his paw on it. The next minute he leaps back, paw in the air, and then frantically trying to lick it better. I said I told you so! He will never learn. Thankfully he was okay about five minutes later. He does seem indestructible.

Yesterday, Leo had a ‘meltdown’ of sorts. He sometimes has an anxiety session where he follows me from room to room and yowls really loudly as if he is worrying I am going to leave him. I was out yesterday all afternoon with boyfriend and when I got back I said hello to all the boys and they seemed fine, I think they had been asleep most of the afternoon. I went upstairs to have a shower. Next minute Leo comes running into the bathroom crying his head off. I tried to comfort him and told him I was not going anywhere and there was nothing to worry about et cetera. He kept on crying though for about five minutes, similar to when he was in the car for example. I had the shower door halfway open so he could pop his head in to see me but nothing seemed to calm him down. When I finally finished in the shower before I could even dry myself off I was kneeling down and cuddling him and comforting him and eventually he calmed down and stopped yowling. It was very odd. He does not normally have tantrums like that. I think he just was fed up with me being out with boyfriend (even though it was only a few hours.) Ragdolls really are just like children!
