In the run-up to the heat wave this summer I bought some mini air conditioners for my house and I tried them out this week (the week of the 11th of July). I also bought some cooling mats which they don’t use very much! One of the air-con is a bit noisy (sounds like a hairdryer) and I think it upset Tom who doesn’t like loud noises. Ragdolls are so sensitive to any changes in their environment. I tried them out last week and had one in my room and two downstairs (the noisy one was in the hallway). Tom woke me up twice during the night meowing at me and jumping on me and I thought there was a problem so I checked him and the rest and they all seemed fine. Then it happened again the next night. He was definitely upset by something and I thought perhaps it was the noisy air con so I turned that one off. That seemed to calm him down after that and he didn’t wake me up again. It is strange the things that can upset them!

What Is A Ragdoll Cat?

The Ragdoll cat as legend has it, was descended from Josephine a feral cat living in California in the 1960s. She was struck by a car and after she recovered, her kittens produced all the winning traits that would become the hallmark of the Ragdoll cat including large heavy build, soft downy fur, docility and laid-back personality. The original bloodlines of Ragdolls can be traced back to Ann Baker’s Ragdoll cats. It was she who developed the breed from the original Josphine. Ragdolls are beautiful, friendly, loving cats know as gentle giants of the cat world.
