My Ragdoll Cat Adventures Part Two

21st Oct Blog Post 55 Matts

I am struggling with matts in Tom and Jack’s fur, particularly Jack. He gets matts all the time, and he has some really thick ones around his back end. I brush them at least twice a day with a special grooming brush and a comb. I even spend ages picking apart the tangles if I can. They are enormously patient actually, and they will let me try and untangle their matts but there comes a point when they get fed up and walk off. Can’t blame them.

I sometimes cut the matts out with hairdresser scissors, but it’s a bit risky. If it is a very big matt I slowly nibble away at it with the scissors until I can tug it off without hurting him, but Jack ends up getting cross, and he runs off. I know there are pet groomers available, but I don’t like the idea of some stranger fiddling with them and I know they would hate it.  Will just keep trying with the brushes and the de-tangling. I am glad they do like being brushed that makes it easier. Leo and Charlie still need some training in brushing as they are quite wriggly and try and bite the brush!
