My Ragdoll Cat Aventures Part Three

19th Jan Blog Post 177 Sicky Charlie

My poor baby Charlie had a bit of rough morning yesterday. He threw up not long after we went downstairs for breakfast. He made this little cry like a distressed baby and I went running to him and he was retching in the hallway and chucking up all over the floor! I thought ‘Oh no what has he eaten now!’ There was a big hairball in the pile of sick so I am not sure if it was that. He did not want his breakfast, not surprisingly. He was then sick a couple more times. I was inwardly trying not to panic as I know cats throw up now and again and it is not necessarily serious. The others were a bit bemused and came over to see what was going on and then were sniffing at the up-chuck on the floor which was gross. I cleaned it up. Luckily I have hardwood floors so it is easier to clean. He still wanted to go out for a walk in the garden with the others but he was not as energetic as he usually is. I felt so sorry for him as he clearly wanted to play but just was not feeling up to it so he came in and sat on the table. He seemed settled after that but then an hour later he threw up again, on the rug this time. Got my antiseptic wipes out again and cleaned it up. He was knackered after that and went to curl up on top of the cat tree. A bit later on I went upstairs to put the washing away and the boys followed me. I felt sorry for Leo as he was bored and I had clearly not been paying him enough attention as he was yowling at me. So I got his favourite feather wand out and played with him. Tom and Jack joined in and eventually Charlie came up as well. I thought that was good that he was still bright and alert and interested in what was going on. Charlie had a little play but then sat down and looked tired again. We all went downstairs and then Charlie curled up on the chair by the table where I work and went to sleep. I decided if he was still throwing up in afternoon I would call the vet.

However, about one hour later, just as I was trying to do a meeting on Teams, Charlie miraculously got better and jumped onto the table and was trying to rub my head and wanted cuddles and fuss while I was trying to talk to this person on Teams. I apologised for my cat. I think he was hungry by then. When I finished the meeting I asked him and Leo, Tom and Jack if they wanted lunch and they all meowed at me. I fed them all and Charlie wolfed his down. He then decided he wanted to drink out of the sink instead of the cat fountain so I filled up the bowl in the sink with water and he leant over the lapped up some water. As long as he was drinking I did not care where! Then he had a wee and a poo and a run around. I was so relieved. I suspect he ate something yesterday that did not agree with him. He does like chewing plastic. I just hope whatever it is has gone out of his system now. Boyfriend calls him ‘Chewy Charlie’ now!
